Environmental Statement

Vertec Printing Services is a commercial printer based in South East London. Our company is housed in a 10,000 square foot purpose-built factory and we have 25 full-time members of staff. In March 2010 we installed a CTP thermal and chemistry free plate processor. Our printing machines print up to ten colours in one pass and can perfect, which not only reflects a commitment to quality but reduces the amount of energy used. We operate a colour management system that conforms to ISO 12647-2.

Our Carbon Smart award certifies the practical actions we have taken to actively reduce our environmental impact. It clearly demonstrates our commitment to customers, staff and suppliers. The Carbon Smart award makes improving our environmental performance part of the everyday running of our business.
We are committed to adopting and promoting sound environmental principles. We have achieved FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certification and thoroughly endorse the use of certified products. In doing this we guarantee that we will always use first class products without damaging the environment. We have assessed our environmental aspect and are committed to reducing the impacts associated with them. Our environmental policy demonstrates a commitment from top management to:

• Identify and comply with all current and future environmental legislation and other codes of practice.
• Use our expertise to influence the design of final products for the benefit of the environment.
• Always use vegetable based inks.
• Consider the environmental aspects of our services and products and endeavour to reduce their impact.
• Manage all of our waste effectively through the reduction, recycling and reuse of materials - all waste will be removed by registered carriers.
• Buy in bulk where possible to reduce the need for transport and large amounts of packaging.
• Investigate measures to reduce the use of resources, including water and energy.
• Raise the awareness of all employees to our environmental responsibilities.
• Communicate our environmental aims to those expressing an interest and through our website.

To ensure that continual improvements are achieved, we will periodically assess the impacts associated with our services in order to achieve our environmental goals.
