Vertec opts for Agfa Avalon N8 to boost green credentials printweek.com, 14 July 2010

Vertec Printing Services has bought an Agfa CTP system in a bid to enhance its environmental performance. The £70,000 Avalon N8 fully-automated platesetter images 28 Azura TS chemistry-free plates per hour.

Production manager Colin Gilham said the kit, running Agfa's Apogee workflow, was another string to its environmental bow alongside FSC and Carbon Smart accreditations.
Vertec produces around 1,100 plates per month for 10-colour and five-colour B2 Komori presses.

B2 commercial printer Vertec Printing Services has boosted its environmental certifications after being awarded the Carbon Smart award.

Tina Young, sales and marketing at the 25-staff business, which already has FSC and PEFC certification, said the accreditations would help the company to win more work.

She said: "Being Carbon Smart means taking an intelligent and flexible approach to reducing your carbon footprint. Carbon Smart status certifies the practical actions we have taken to actively reduce our environmental impact. It clearly demonstrates our commitment to customers, staff and suppliers."
